___ Gionata Gatto is an Italian designer currently working from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In 2009, Gatto completed the Man Humanity Masters and graduated from the Design Academy in Eindhoven.
His approach to design is firmly connected to the objective of questioning the significance of daily-life products. This results in investigations to production processes, materials, artifacts and services. The public often perceives the projects of the studio as evocative tools as well as advocates of engagement and dialogues. His work covers a wide range of topics from cultural integration to energy consumption.
The works of Gatto have been exhibited in galleries and events worldwide, including Spazio Rossana Orlandi (Milan), Triennale di Milano (Milan), Maison & Objet (Paris), Sotheby’s (London) and the Tijdelijk Museum (Amsterdam). Furthermore, Gionata gives lectures at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam.
Thompson's work has been published and exhibited worldwide at, among others, the Milano Salone del Mobile, St Etienne Biennale Internationale Design, the Science Gallery (Dublin), Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (Rotterdam), and the Museum of Modern Art (New York).Gionata Gatto and Mike Thompson designed the Trap Light and the Trace Light .
