Projects

Transnatural stimulates the creation of distinctive projects that not only meet the needs but also align with the makers' identity and philosophy. Newly developed, unusual material notions are frequently the starting points. This approach leads to unique (custom) designs that also provide sensory and immersive experiences.

Transnatural guides concept creation, research, material experimentation, and production methods. We support  throughout the artistic, design, and production processes, while fostering collaboration between makers, clients institutes, technologists, companies, and other experts. This results in truly unique outcomes in balance with different types of spaces and ecologies, from which you find some examples below.

Drawing inspiration from the motion of windmills cutting through wood, Merel Karhof has developed a unique technique that leaves flowing trails of blue oxidation on oak surfaces for Transnatural. The Airfoil project features rich, deep blue tones created through a carefully managed oxidation process—a refined and eco-conscious form of wood printing.

Transience mirror passage

Lex Pott & David Derksen

Over time dark spots start to appear on mirrors. The silver layer is slowly oxidizing under the influence of oxygen and water, thereby showing some of its history. This process can be regarded as degradation, however this project shows the beauty of this material transition of silver.

Lamina light restaurant

Tijs Gilde

The Lamina Light sculptures offer a novel interplay of light and geometric color patterns. The semi-transparent, overlapping slats create a dynamic color spectrum that shifts with varying perspectives. The modular, black light fixture enables users to effortlessly insert and personalize diverse patterns.
