Ellipse in Motion

The artwork Ellipse in Motion is a refined exploration of perception, movement and colour. As the viewer’s position shifts, an elliptical form appears and recedes, creating a subtle visual dialogue between presence and absence. Simultaneously, colours transform across the surface, generating a dynamic interplay that evolves with every change in perspective.

Launched by Transnatural during Milan Design Week 2026 as part of the acclaimed Sphere in Motion series, Ellipse in Motion invites viewers to engage with the artwork as an ever-changing experience rather than a static object. Through its carefully orchestrated optical effects, the piece challenges conventional notions of form and depth, revealing new dimensions with each encounter.

Sphere in Motion is a new hybrid artistic design concept featuring both standalone art objects and wall coverings. A collective of artists and designers has been invited to explore the boundaries of transformative and immersive experiences within interior architecture.

Ellipse in Motion is a work by Martens & Visser, whose practice is distinguished by a sophisticated investigation into geometry, light and visual perception, resulting in artworks that are both intellectually engaging and aesthetically compelling.
