Fillip Studios
Fillip Studios is a Dutch interdisciplinary design studio based in Arnhem, founded by creative directors Roos Meerman and Tom Kortbeek. Working at the intersection of art, design, science, and technology, the studio has built an international reputation for creating immersive and interactive experiences that transform complex ideas into meaningful encounters. Guided by its philosophy, “Impact through Wonder,” Fillip Studios develops projects that inspire curiosity, foster understanding, and strengthen connections between people and the world around them.
The studio brings together artists, designers, engineers, and researchers to create installations, exhibitions, augmented reality experiences, performances, and design research projects. Rather than producing conventional products, Fillip Studios focuses on designing “bridges of understanding,” using sensory and participatory experiences to communicate scientific, cultural, and social narratives. Its work has been presented internationally at museums, festivals, and cultural institutions, including the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, Museum Arnhem, South by Southwest (Austin), Trapholt Museum (Denmark), and the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo.
Notable projects such as Tactile Orchestra, Arabidopsis Symphony, and Vocode demonstrate the studio’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and experiential storytelling. Oasis
Introducing the latest collection of sculptural scale models from the Oasis project—a collaborative creation by Fillip Studios and Omlab in partnership with Transnatural.
Like many countries, the Netherlands is confronting the urgent need to cut nitrogen emissions and revitalize its natural landscapes. Excess nitrogen—stemming from vehicle emissions, industrial processes, and agricultural fertilizers—leads to soil acidification and severely impacts ecosystems, biodiversity, and water resources.
Oasis reimagines this challenge through monumental sculptures designed for urban spaces and private gardens. These installations are crafted from a unique, 3D-printable material made of waste water materials holding calcite and native plant seeds are added. This innovative blend not only neutralizes soil acidity but also promotes local biodiversity by encouraging new plant growth in urban settings.
These sculptural scale models offer a glimpse into a greener, more vibrant future. Intended as striking indoor art pieces, they serve as both aesthetic statements and symbols of ecological hope.
