Natasja Alers

Natasja Alers graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2012, specializing in Ceramics. Her artistic practice centers on tactility, the human body, and nature. Using a visual language marked by raw expression and sensuality, she translates themes such as attraction, touch, sexuality, and feminism into sculptural objects. Natasja creates both small-scale and monumental works for indoor and public spaces.

The artist has a fascination with the human body and nature. Using, for example, casts of body parts, she often reconstructs new forms. These become the basis for new compositions of sculptural works. With a wide palette of glazes and color combinations, Alers creates abstract, painterly, and expressive surfaces with smudges and drips. These elements are distinctive and recognizable in her organically shaped works.

Most of her pieces are primarily hand-formed from ceramics and crafted using traditional techniques. Occasionally, she employs alternative production methods when they serve the artistic intention.

Natasja lives in Nieuw-West and her studio is located in Amsterdam-Noord.
