___Born in Belgium and now based in Rotterdam, Isaac Monté is a designer with a fascination for unusual materials. On the blurred borders in-between art and science, his striking and innovative art and design projects explore contemporary controversial fields of biological interventions and aesthetic manipulations. A fascination for nature, bio-material experimentations, an innovative aesthetics based on recycling raw materials into new shapes and sustainable compositions make Isaac works in tune with our mission of balancing nature and technology.
Isaac studied product design in Belgium, Norway and the Netherlands, where he graduated in 2013 – at Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. His work has been shown in a variety of galleries and exhibitions in Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy and Germany. This made him an outstanding protagonist of contemporary bio-art and design scene in the Netherlands.
During his young career, he has been awarded several prizes: The Threshold Prize as most talented graduate in 2013 with his project “Filter Factory”; the Henri Winkelman Award for young creative entrepreneurs in Rotterdam in 2014; last but not least, he was announced as one of the recipients of the Bio Art and Design Awards in 2015.
