___Transnatural is part of the Dutch Design Week 2017 at the VDMA building in Eindhoven. The label launches the new designs Hairy Tales and the Wood Crystals collection.
Hairy Tales creates a sustainable surface-altering process through the use of the natural and abundant material of hair. In the printing process human carbonized hair creates graphic patterns on diverse metal of modular objects.
The Wood Crystals are developed to give wild bees burrows in which they can nest in urban environment. At the same time the design offers humans some aesthetic pleasure as sculptures, tables or stools. Due to the residency of more and more bees, the pollination process in city areas will increase that will improve the urban ecology.
The in- and outdoor Wood Crystals are made from residual city wood, each cut in a diamond shape by a robot. To extend the comfort and aesthetics, the indoor Wood Crystals refer to the outdoor models and have a high quality finish.

___ Inspired by a trip to the volcanic island of Stromboli courtesy of the Fiorucci Trust a land of black rocks and sunsets a new collection of Well Proven Furniture is designed including the first ever Well Proven Chaise.
Using the same process as the previous Well Proven stools and chairs a technique of adding powdered graphite is developed to the mix and specially mixed spirit stains to dye the legs.
The Well Proven series began with the discovery that within industry between 50-80% waste is created in processing raw timber into usable products. Designers made a new material from this waste that usually comes in the form of sawdust, shavings or chippings. A bizarre reaction between this wood waste and bio-resin appears, where the mixture expands up to five times its original volume into a strong, lightweight foamed material.
